We are not able to service plowed-in or snow-bound vehicles in alleys, streets or driveways until enough snow has been cleared to provide safe access to the service vehicle. Please clear snow from the vehicle and/or driveway if necessary.

A charge per kilometre will be applied to any additional distance over 5 km.
CAA Plus: As a Plus member you may have the vehicle towed back to the responding facilitys place of repair; or to any point along the same route at no charge; or to any destination in any other direction within 160 km from the point of breakdown at no charge. A charge per kilometre will be applied to any additional distance over 160 km.
CAA Plus RV: Same coverage as CAA Plus.
Please note: New CAA Plus members have a seven-day waiting period to obtain free towing service in excess of 5 km. Service will be rendered immediately in all other circumstances.
Extreme Weather Conditions
During extreme weather conditions, CAA responds to calls on a priority basis, providing service first to members whose vehicles are blocking roadways or otherwise posing a threat to public or personal safety. Under severe conditions, CAA reserves the right to temporarily suspend service to members whose vehicles are in a place of safety. Your patience and understanding under these circumstances are appreciated.
Liability
Certain types of American and foreign-made cars (especially those with fibreglass bodies) and vehicles with owner-made modifications are difficult to tow without causing damage. In such cases, you may be asked to sign a release.
Emergency Repair Cheque Acceptance
CAA- and AAA-affiliated ERS® contractors will accept your personal cheque for up to $250 for repairs when no other means of payment is available. This service is limited to emergency repairs which must be carried out in order to make the vehicle operable.
Quality of Service
Our top priority is always to satisfy your needs. If you feel service has been unsatisfactory, please contact CAA Manitoba's ERS department. In many cases a simple phone call can solve the problem. Any damages resulting from CAA service must be reported to CAA within 24 hours and prior to any repairs being rendered. CAA reserves the right to refuse claims submitted more than 10 days after the incident.
Emergency Road Service Limitations
Please remember the word EMERGENCY and you will understand why non-emergency service limitations are necessary. CAA road service is intended to help the most members possible with common emergency problems we can solve.
For this reason CAA does not provide:
- Service to a vehicle already in a place of repair unless authorized by CAA
- Service to vehicles used in competition at races or drag races
- Service to loaded or altered vehicles where the provision of service may jeopardize the load or damage the vehicle
- Maintenance and repairs to vehicles
- Service to unattended vehicles unless pre-authorized by CAA
- Service by appointment; service is rendered on a first-come, first-served basis
- Delivery service - CAA does not provide members transportation to and/or from disabled vehicle.
- Collision/accident towing, where MPI policy preempts CAA from delivering collision towing services. This must be arranged with MPI.
- Accident towing, where the Manitoba Public Insurance policy preempts CAA service
- Towing service to a salvage yard, service to a vehicle which has failed a safety inspection, or the service and costs associated with legal infractions or unlicensed vehicles
- Second or additional trips by service staff on any one call
- Service to vehicles in an area not normally travelled, i.e. open fields, beaches, private logging roads, riverbanks, floodway, construction sites or other locations which cannot be reached safely.
- Reimbursement of expenses incurred as a result of a mechanical breakdown including lost wages, alternate transportation, accommodations, etc.
In fairness to all CAA members, CAA reserves the right to refuse service, impose a surcharge, or cancel a membership of a member who has used road service to excess.
Reimbursement Policy
CAA takes special measures to be prepared for unfavorable weather; however, during periods of extreme weather conditions, service requests may overload phone lines. If service is unattainable directly from CAA or its affiliated contractors, we will reimburse for services obtained from another facility.
Reimbursements are provided in accordance with the level of membership coverage and the guidelines and limitations listed on the preceding pages. Reimbursement rates are based on prevailing commercial rates for the area.
Automotive repairs and labour charges are not reimbursable and should be shown separately from ERS® charges on the receipt.
Receipts for service must be issued from a registered repair facility or towing company. Submit the original copy of your receipt (photocopies not acceptable), within 60 days for reimbursement consideration to:
