An Auto Theft Reward Program
Help stop auto theft
$200 Reward from CAA Manitoba
CAA will offer a $200 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person who has stolen a member's vehicle. It's part of our commitment to make road travel safer for all Manitobans -- CAA members and non-members alike.
What you can do to prevent auto theft
Tips to protect your vehicle from theft:
- It seems so basic, but it's worth repeating: never leave your keys in an unattended car. Even if you're just dashing into a store for milk, it's still an easy mark for a car thief. Always remove your keys from the ignition and take the time to lock your car.
- Never put your name and address on your key tag. If your keys are lost or stolen, you've just advertised where you live and park your car. For the honest folk, a phone number is enough to return your keys. For others, it's an open invitation to steal your car. For similar reasons, don't leave your driver's licence and registration in your vehicle.
- If you have a garage -- use it! And make a habit of locking it behind you. Cars are often stolen from driveways and open spaces near homes -- but rarely from garages.
- Thieves don't like to work hard. That's why anti-theft devices are a successful deterrent. Almost any vehicle can be stolen, but by adding a CAT sticker, a steering wheel locking device such as The Club (available at CAA), a car alarm, or a vehicle immobilizer, you've increased the odds that a thief will move on to an easier target.
