The Best time to cruise
So you want to take a cruise! Whether you're a rookie or seasoned sailor, we've got some tips to make your cruise a pleasure.

The best time to cruise
When you're looking for a specific destination, consider the cruise season. While the Caribbean is a great year-round, other destinations have a shorter time span for cruising.

Cruise season for these popular destinations:

  • Alaska: May-September
  • Bermuda: April-September
  • Caribbean: January-June, October-December
  • Europe: May-September
  • Hawaii: January-December
  • Mexico: January-May, October-December
  • New England: September-November (for fall foliage); June-August
  • Panama Canal: January-May, October-December

While we've listed some of the more popular destinations, our CAA travel counsellors will find the ideal time to visit any place on earth.

Hurricane Season
According to the National Hurricane Services, hurricane season is June 1 to November 31. Historically, the greatest concentration of hurricanes and tropical storms tend to be between late August and October.

The benefit of cruising during this season as compared to a land-based vacation is that this floating resort can be moved to safer waters.

Cruise ships are equipped with state-of-the-art weather and communication equipment. The Captain and crew are constantly aware of potential and existing storms, and if necessary, itineraries will be altered to ensure safety for passengers, crew and vessel.

The most affordable time to cruise
Our best advice: book early. The earlier you book, the better your chance of getting the best deals.

At CAA, we negotiate exceptional cruise packages with fantastic member-exclusive discounts - sometimes ranging up to 50% off! But since space is often limited, certain destinations and departure dates may not be available if you wait.

Your best bet is to contact CAA Travel immediately to secure your first choice in dates and destinations.
