Home to natural beauty and spiritual wealth, the Land of the Rising Sun offers travellers the chance to explore the country from neon to nature. Begin in Osaka, Japan’s second largest city with its pulsating Dotonbori district. Pause in Hiroshima at the Peace Memorial Park and Museum to visit the Shinto shrine of Itsukushima. Take in Kurashiki, Okayama, Kyoto and Nara, and marvel at gardens, temples and castles. Engage in a wagashi-making experience and a tea ceremony, visit a Sake brewery and travel by bullet train. From sacred Mount Fuji, end your odyssey in Tokyo with a river cruise and visits to Harajuku, Ginza and a farewell dinner.

Daily Itinerary

Day 1

Depart Toronto or Winnipeg to Osaka

Day 2

Osaka – Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to the hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure

Day 3

Osaka – Tour of Osaka, including a Sake brewery tour, the Dotonbori District and the Umeda Sky Building Floating Observatory B/T

Day 4

Osaka − Free day at leisure B

Day 5

Hiroshima – Travel by bullet train to Hiroshima for a half-day tour. From Miyajima, board the ferry and visit the Itsukushima Shrine, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, A-Bomb Dome and Memorial Museum B

Day 6

Okayama − Travel to Kurashiki, by bullet train. Half-day tour of Kurashiki including the Bikan Historical Quarter B

Day 7

Kyoto – Explore the Korakuen Garden, Okayama Castle, and Himeji Castle, finish the day on a bullet train to Kyoto B

Day 8

Kyoto − Visit Todaiji Temple and Nara Deer Park. See the Kasuga Shrine, Byodoin Temple and Fushimi Inari Shrine B

Day 9

Kyoto – Visit Ryoanji Temple, Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle and Kiyomizu Temple. Partake in a Wagashi- making experience B/L

Day 10

Hakone – Today, explore the Gion area and experience a traditional tea ceremony. Return by bullet train to Odawara Station and your ryokan for dinner B/D

Day 11

Tokyo – Explore Fuji and experience the Hakone Ropeway, Owakudani Valley and a ride up to Mt. Fuji’s 5th station B/L

Day 12

Tokyo – Discover the Akihabara and Sensoji Temples, including a cruise along the Sumida river. Continue exploring the Imperial Palace, East Garden and Ginza district B/D

Day 13

Tokyo – Explore Shibuya Crossing Street, Meiji Jingu Shrine, Harajuku and Omotesando. Enjoy the views from the observatory deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office Building B

Tokyo − Free day at leisure B
